Hey everyone!! Last week was very exciting for the Falcons. We played at home three times and it was our first home weekend of the season.
We started out the week on Tuesday with a game against the University of West Florida. This was also our Faculty Appreciation Night. Each player selected their favorite professor to attend the game. Professors were announced before the game and were accompanied by their respective player to the center of the court. Unfortunately, we lost to West Florida 3-1.
We took the court again on Friday for our first home weekend of the season. Friday night we played Armstrong Atlantic. After jumping on them early, we held the lead and won 3-0. It was a very exciting and energetic game for not only for us, but for the stands too. We enjoyed the win Friday night, but had to stay focused for one of our toughest matches of the season on Saturday.
Going into Saturday's match, Flagler and we were the only two undefeated teams in the Peach Belt Conference. Therefore, a lot was riding on that game. We started off very strong, taking the first two games. There was a lot of energy and excitement from the court, sidelines, and the stands. The third game gave us some trouble as we lost 25-20. Game 4 was a different story. We dominated and won! It was a great victory!
As always, we enjoyed Sunday off and even got Monday off as we only had early morning weights.
Until next time, Go Falcons!

3-0 in Conference
Hey everyone! We just got home from one of our longest weekends of the season. We traveled to Florence, South Carolina on Friday to play Francis Marion and then to Pembroke, North Carolina on Saturday to play the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. It was a VERY long trip but completely worth it, as we brought back two conference wins.
We left Montevallo on Thursday afternoon and arrived in South Carolina late that night. Friday morning we woke up and had three hours worth of study hall followed by spending time at the mall. Then it was time to take on Francis Marion. We beat Francis Marion in three games and quickly loaded the bus and headed to North Carolina that night.
Saturday morning everyone slept in and then headed to the campus of UNC-Pembroke for another conference match-up. Again, we beat UNC-Pemboke in three, pulling out a couple of close games. After the match, everyone showered and loaded the bus for a long bus ride home. As everyone enjoys a day off, we have a tough week ahead as we prepare for one non-conference game and two conference games.
Until next time, Go Falcons!

Aiken Weekend
Hey everyone! We just got back from our weekend in Aiken, South Carolina at the University of South Carolina Aiken's Volleyball Invitational. After a tough weekend in Florida, everyone was ready and prepared for the weekend in Aiken.
We started the tournament off with our first conference game against host, University of South Carolina Aiken. With it being the first conference game, there was a lot on the line. We battled hard and took them to five games and in the end we came out on top with the victory! It was our first conference win along with our first regular win of the season. After the game against Aiken, we immediately played Limestone. Again, we won 3-0.
The next day was full of wins as we defeated Erskine and Concord. Needless to say, everyone was excited and happy about the four victories we brought home from Aiken. Sunday was our day as everyone relaxed and got ready for the week ahead.
Tomorrow is a big day as we play at home for the first time this season against the University of West Georgia.

And so it begins....
Hey everyone! We just played our first volleyball tournament of the season this past weekend in Lakeland, Florida. Even though the results were not as successful as we would have liked, we came back with new goals and great memories. As some of you might know, we have a very young team this year, with eight underclassmen. This gives our team a lot of learning oppertunities and a lot of room to grow into the team we are fully capable of!!
After weeks of two-a-days and plenty of team bonding activities everyone was excited to finally start playing games. We practiced at Florida Southern College on Thursday in order to get used to the court and our playing location. Games finally started on Friday morning as we took on Missouri S&T. With it being our first officical game, everyone was both nervous and excited. Unfortunately, we fell to Missouri S&T 0-3. We quickly had to forget about that loss and prepare ourselves for the next game against Southwest Baptist later Friday afternoon. It was a tough battle with Southwest Baptist but we got the short end of the stick when we lost in the 5th game. Saturday consisted of two more matches against the host, Florida Southern College and Angelo State. We played hard in both matches, but it wasn't enough as we fell short to both teams. Everyone was disappointed in our losses, but feel as though we improved in each game.
We concluded our weekend with a trip to Universal Studios in Orlando. The entire team was excited about the trip, as many players had never been there before. Everyone was especially excited for the new Harry Potter park! We spent about six long hours in the park and then we loaded the bus to head back to Montevallo. Even though the bus ride back was long, it was filled with sleeping, homework, games, and laughter!
While we enjoy Labor Day off from classes, we are hitting the weights and court hard in preparation for our next tournament this weekend in Aiken, South Carolina.
